UNISON / Social Campaign / Public Service Champions
From saving the lives of our loved ones, to keeping our neighbourhoods safe – our public service champions work around the clock to make our lives better. But there’s another side to the story. In the run up to the by-elections, how do we raise awareness that the public services we all depend on are in crisis and need our support?
With a straight-talking, thought-provoking, campaign that highlights the disparity between public perception and the scary reality.
Social Media
The trade union, UNISON has a large and vocal Facebook following. We had just 3 weeks to create shareable content that would educate, engage and rally the public to #backyourchampions.
We created two short videos for Facebook and YouTube to highlight some of the major issues. By jump cutting from a public service user to a public service worker, we juxtaposed the tone of the messaging to unnerve and engage the viewer.

UNISON Website
At the heart of the campaign; https://champions.unison.org.uk we demonstrate how the crisis spans across all of our public services, inform people about how they can help, and enable them to do it.
From the homepage you can watch and share content, sign a petition, personally thank a public service worker (or a whole team of them), sign a letter to your MP, register to vote and pledge your support for the campaign.
DOOH
Utilising the unique Media Eye sites above New Street station, our huge moving portraits targeted pedestrians and commuters in a concise, unexpected way.
OOH (ROADSIDE)
We brought our campaign to billboards across the country.
OOH (RAIL)
Longer dwell time meant we could highlight issues in the NHS and care services in more depth.
Tube Car Panels
Targeting people on the go we raised awareness of the crisis in youth and education services.
Press
Double page spreads provided the perfect format for us to raise awareness about the crises facing our communities.
METRO Wrap
And to drive home the message that 'it doesn't matter what you do, just do something' our eye-grabbing wrap provides a near endless list of call to actions.
